Winner!

Well, would you believe it!  The card that I entered into the first ever Claritystamp Challenge Blog was picked at random as the winner!  I am chuffed to bits and, as everyone always says, I never win anything!.  This was the card I entered.

The design team also had the unenviable task of picking their top five from a truly amazing selection of entries.  It’s well worth popping along and taking a look at the artwork that was submitted – beautiful.

Now, what to spend my £50 Claritystamp gift voucher on!

Looking forward to coming up with an entry for the second challenge, In the Garden.

Claritystamp Challenge Blog – Anything Goes

I was so excited about the new Claritystamp challenge blog when I heard about it, and it’s one of the reasons I started this blog.  Since it started on the 1 March it’s been great to see some of the amazing artwork that’s been posted under the heading of Anything Goes.  But, I’ve really struggled to decide what to enter myself!  However, I’ve now made a decision and this is what I’m going with.

It’s an A4 card and uses the Claritystamp small flourish stamp, the spring bouquet stamp and also a mixture of the letterbox and numbers kits.  I used the Tim Holtz peacock feathers distress ink for the background colour.

The letters were embossed using extra thick embossing powder and then I crackled the glaze by rubbing an embossing tool over the back of the words while leaning them on a mousemat.  Love the effect it gives.

I also used the versatile vase stamp and played with the gold gilding flakes that I bought at the SECC a couple of weeks ago.  Really enjoyed that and keep coming up with excuses to gild everything!

Finally the bouquet was coloured using Promarkers.  I think I’m finally getting the hang of shading but I’ve got a long way to go.

Hope you like it as much as I do.

Less is More Challenge – Frame It

I would like to enter this into the Less is More Frame It challenge.  Using the Claritystamp universal framer and the spring bouquet I have masked the different elements to give the illusion that the bouquet is emerging through the frame.  I have then hand coloured using Promarkers.

Less is More Challenge – Spots and Stripes

I’d like to enter this into the current Less is More challenge – spots and stripes. I hope that the line drawing on the stamps and spots on the dress qualifies this card!

In Heaven!

Yesterday I headed off to the SECC in Glasgow with my takings from my card making in a little poly bag and the resolve not to spend any more than was in the bag – aye, right!  I had a list, I had a plan and as soon as I hit the Claritystamp stand that all went to pot.  Watching the lovely and talented Maria Sims share her knowledge and expertise with a demonstration of film and fibre and the new girl stamps, which had been designed by Barbara Gray and seen for the first time on this month’s Stamping with Clarity on Create and Craft.  I had been thinking about trying film and fibre for a while but couldn’t make my mind up between that or Perfect Pearls.  Having seen the demo my mind was made up and I took advantage of the excellent show offer and got everything I needed to get me going.  One element of the offer pack was one of the three girls and I went with Rosie who just looks so elegant and wistful.

I have had a lovely morning making film and fibre dresses in every colour for her but at the back of my mind was a couple of cards that I could see her featured in.  This first was using the Claritystamp window frame.  I wanted to keep it clean and simple  having been inspired by the Less is More blog where everything is very simple and minimalist.  I felt a little colour was needed but kept it to the accents on her dress, the view outside and the miniature flower bouquet from the Claritystamp Best of the Classroom set.

The second card, she was just made for walking barefoot in the sand staring out to sea and I hope that the different effects used bring that across.

Getting the photos for the blog was fun too – dodging the snow and hailstone flurries!

I have to admit to not stopping at this purchase but I think I’ll leave that for another blog 🙂

40th Anniversary

I’ve been bitten by the challenge bug.  This is a card I would like to submit to the Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge, Flowers.  An anniversary card for a ruby wedding it features the Claritystamp letterbox kit and wire heart, along with some other stamps I had in my stash.  First of all I stamped and glazed the names using the letterbox it to protect them before I brayered the background using the Adirondack cranberry and stamped over the top using the same colour.  I then made the topper using quilled flowers in complementary colours and added a glitter red 40 to add a bit of bling.

Another quick one…

Both my boys have had birthdays in the past couple of weeks.  15 and 13, can’t believe it!  Here’s the cards I made for them.

This one had it’s problems – stamped the cake too far forward and it’s actually sitting on what should be the edge of the table!  Also, I stupidly laid a piece of paper over the top – before the glossy accent on the balloons had time to dry.  However, the end result doesn’t look too bad considering.

Clarity stamp balloon and meadowdance stamps with some other birthday ones I had in my stash.

ImageWas happier with this one.  Suited well as he’s off skiing with the school for 10 days.

Claritystamp letterbox kit, skier from Sports set and the miniature spruce tree.  Also used the cloud mask to created the lovely fluffy clouds and the mountain side of the hill mask too.  The Claritystamp masks are great – save a lot of cutting out time.
